The Zocco Family
(My Father's Family)

Flag of
Sicily |
Very little is known about my father's family as individuals. I
remember, vaguely, my grandmother, who was ill for a number of
years, and who stayed upstairs in the bedroom of her house. At least
that's always where she was when we went to visit. They lived in
Reading, PA, which is where they lived the whole time after
emigrating to this country.
I remember everyone there speaking Italian, and my mom and I were
kind of lost when that happened. I wanted to learn Italian, but my
dad wouldn't let me. I never really knew why that was.
I have no photos of this family. I don't believe they were photo
takers, but if they were, the photos went to the other siblings, and
we lost touch with them after my grandmother's death. My
understanding is that there was a falling out over inheritance
issues. What I have managed to gather together, however, are some
documents, census records and the like, and so I will place here
whatever I have. |
My grandparents were Vincenzo Zocco (Vincent) and Angelina Spadaro.
They came from Sicily during the Ellis Island years. Vincent came
first and got settled, and then Angelina followed a year or two
later. |
